REGIONAL INFORMATION FOR TURKEY
Intro:
Turkey is benefiting
from hundreds of millions in foreign direct
investment, and not just from people wanting a
second home in one of its popular tourist resorts or
emerging regions. The World Bank recently offered a
£250 million loan to Turkey to support economic
reforms and boost employment. A new mortgage law,
due for implementation in September 2007, will also
make it easier for non-nationals to buy.
The
Turkish government is currently rolling out a
national tourism development plan that is due to run
until 2010. Five main Tourism Development Regions,
mostly located on Turkey's Riviera coast between
Izmir and Oymapinar to the south, will receive major
infrastructural investment - which will also benefit
holiday home buyers.
The Aegean Coast
Altinkum
Altinkum means
"Golden Sands". The resort itself has several
gloriously sandy beaches which gently shelve the
warm Aegean Sea.
Altinkum is located 70km from
Bodrum airport and this up and coming resort has
everything to offer holiday makers and residents
whilst maintaining its definitive Turkish feel.
There are three larger beaches in the resort,
offering water sports and other activities. Along
Altinkum’s main beach, the promenade slopes around
lined with various bars, shops and restaurants.
Although it is a sleepy and quiet resort during the
day, Altinkum comes alive at night with its various
bars and nightclubs.
Altinkum is approximately two hours from Bodrum,
one and half hours from Kusadasi and two and half
hours from Izmir, Turkey’s third largest city.
Altinkum is being developed as a Tourism Centre and
a new 400 yacht marina was completed in 2009, along
with plans for a golf course in the near future.
Kusadasi
Located in the
Aegean region of Turkey, Kusadasi or the bird island
is a visually magnificent and ideal spot for
vacation. Like a beautiful painting, Kusadasi boasts
of a flamboyancy, which is contributed by the clear
blue water, accompanied by expanses of sandy beaches
and a bright summer sun.
With the glorious historical city of Ephesus
standing beside it, the town of Kusadasi is a heady
blend of the ancient and the aesthetic and thus
proves to be an invincible attraction for travellers
from all over the world. An earthy appeal,
inexpensive Turkish cuisines, numerous holiday
villages and hotels and the alluring Turkish Nights.
Akbuk
Akbuk is a fishing
town which is nestled between a crystal clear and
tranquil bay, majestic mountains and pine forests.
The resort looks out over the clear crystal Aegean
with two small islands making it a truly spectacular
view. It is a fifteen minute drive from Altinkum and
less than ninety minutes from Bodrum.
Akbuk used
to be known as a small fishing port, however, today
Akbuk is rapidly growing into an elite tourist
hotspot, with its holiday complexes, summer houses,
villas, harbour and five start hotels.
There are a wide range of shops and markets in
Akbuk selling fresh food, tools and hardware. There
are doctors, dentists, schools and a bus station
with regular services going to neighbouring towns
including Altinkum, Soke, Kusadasi as well as
Bodrum.
Bodrum
Built on a
peninsula formed by the meeting of the eastern and
western harbours, Bodrum, with its narrow streets
winding down to the sea, is famous for its castle,
its world-renowned yachts, its shipyards and the
dazzling white houses and tombs lining the shores of
its two harbours.
The resort is 30 minutes away from the airport and is dominated by the magnificent St Peters Castle. Bodrum is considered by many to be the most cosmopolitan resort. It offers a high standard of shops, places to dine and entertainment. The marina is impressive during the day as it is at night with an array of quality restaurants lining the marina.
The Bodrum peninsula also includes sleepy villages such as Yalikavak, Bitez, Gumbet, Gumusluk and Gulluk, all of which are developing into resorts in their own right.
Property in Turkey
Our Turkish properties are spread right across the country. Close to the Aegean Sea and the eastern and western Mediterranean, they are near coastal towns and centres including Bodrum, Fethiye, Dalaman, Gocek, Antalya, Yaniklar, Calis Beach, Kalkan, Ovacik, Gullak, Bitez and Gumusluk. All combine excellent lifestyle benefits with outstanding investment potential.
Set among rolling hills and mountains, with traditional villages nestling in the hillsides, our homes are located near a staggering array of historic treasures dating back to the days of the Persians, Macedonians, Romans, Byzantines and the Ottoman Empire. The first known settlement in the world was discovered in Turkey and it has two of the 'seven wonders of the world' - including the Halikarnossos Mausoleum in Bodrum.
Turkey has over 8,000km of beach and an absorbing variety oflandscapes. Offering a rich tapestry of natural wonders, it is a country of mountains - including Mount Ararat, where Noah's ark is said to have come to rest 5,000m above sea level. For today's sailor, Turkey offers one of Europe's most exciting destinations, exploring the hundreds of islands dotted off the coastline.
Our beachside apartments, townhouses and villas are all designed and built using local materials and designs, with local stone and reclaimed timbers used wherever possible. Most will have sea views, close to villages and towns with medical services, banks, shops, restaurants and bars. Food in Turkey is exceptionally good, and international schools are opening to meet the ever-increasing migration of north Europeans seeking a new way of life.
Low cost airlines now fly into Turkey as well as a large number of charter flights already in existence. Turkey, at the crossroads of Asia and Europe, has property prices similar to Spain and Portugal twenty years ago. The cost of living is much cheaper than anywhere in Northern Europe and Turkey has one of the world's fastest growing economies. It hopes to become a full member of the EU in 2015.
