REGIONAL INFORMATION FOR SOUTH AFRICA

CAPE TOWN

Voted in 2009 by readers of the Daily Telegraph as the 'world's most beautiful city'. No other city in the world has the combination of mountains, oceans, golden beaches, sporting facilities and vineyards all within 20 mins drive of the city centre.

With a Mediterranean climate, over 300 days of full sunshine per annum visitors wishing to escape the cold, wet European winter are guaranteed superb weather.

Mid September to mid May are the best months, but even during the Cape's "winter months" the average day time temperature is 19C and many of the clear winter days are very beautiful.

The city's landscape is dominated by Table Mountain and the city's unique character is a blend of African, Malay and European cultures.

Cape Town is often referred to as 'The Mother City' and it's people are friendly, hospitable and keen for visitors to enjoy it's facilities and pleasures.

Sport is a major part of South African life so no surprise that there are 8 golf courses within 20 minutes drive of the city centre, all forms of water sport, climbing, walking, trekking, 8 mega gyms, fishing, flying etc.

The city has a superb selection of restaurants, cafes, clubs, a symphony orchestra, opera - it is all there to be enjoyed.

The Cape 'life-style' is truly unique and with 4 daily direct flights from London Heathrow, the 11 hour journey is worth every minute!

THE GARDEN ROUTE

There is a mountain range that runs from Cape Town parallel to the east coast for over 500km. The last 100kms from Mossel Bay to Plettenburg Bay is called the Garden Route.  This area of land lies between the Outenique mountain range and the warm Indian ocean has a micro climate with warm moist winters and warm dry summers.

The jewel of the Garden Route is Knysna, a prosperous coastal town built around a beautiful lagoon which opens to the Indian Ocean through Knysna Heads.  Now more than a holiday town, Knysna has excellent sport and leisure facilities, restaurants, cafes and a relaxed life-style.
