Property Information for South Africa
Intro: In addition to the expected boost from the World Cup in 2010, the South African economy is growing steadily and the affluence of the burgeoning middle class is driving demand for residential property. The expatriate retirement population in South Africa is increasing thanks to the lower cost of living and lower property prices, while year-round demand for tourist accommodation is growing - with a long rental season supported by a temperate climate.
The South African legal system is similar to that of the UK, and English is widely spoken, thus making it more accessible to British buyers. Property prices throughout South Africa have risen significantly over the past few years, recording the best growth worldwide in 2005.
CAPE TOWN
Cape Town is one of the most famous cities in the world with its cosmopolitan culture, magnificent hotels, restaurants, shops and the Victoria and Albert waterfront - which is seeing major investment in preparation for the World Cup in 2010. Some of the worlds finest wines come from the Western Cape and these are all within easy reach of Cape Town and indeed many of our properties on the Western Cape are situated in winery communities.
Our properties in the Western Cape are found mainly in Cape Town, but also include Hermanus (world famous for its whale watching) and the historic 'wineland' towns of Stellenbosch, Franschoek and Paarl. In Cape Town itself, overlooked by the famous Table Mountain, there are lovely properties to be found in the suburbs of Camps Bay, Houts Bay, Simonstown, Constantia, Clifton, Somerset West and Llundudno.
Our properties in Cape Town and the Western Cape consist of city centre, beach and waterfront apartments, gated and secure golfing, marina, and winery communities as well as villas in established residential estates and neighbourhoods. Cape Town and the Western Cape is one of the world's major beneficiaries of inward global investment, much of which goes into commercial and residential property. All major airlines fly into Cape Town with daily direct services to Europe, USA, Middle East, and Australia.
GARDEN ROUTE
Our properties on South Africa's Garden Route are found between George and Plettenberg Bay and offer outstanding investment potential. Set against rolling hills, vineyards, ostrich and animal reserves, it is situated on the Indian Ocean, midway between Cape Town (approximately five hours drive away) and Port Elizabeth. The main town on the Garden Route is George, with its world famous Fancourt Golf Resort hosting the last President's World Cup.
Eco tourism is taking off on the Garden Route, with stunning beach and golf resorts (like Simola, Pezula, Oubaai, and Fancourt) set alongside whale and dolphin watching centres, marinas and nature reserves. Other properties on the Garden Route are found in waterfront locations such as Knysna. With its highly acclaimed Venetian style development, Knysna is famous for its oyster and pink 'loerie' festivals, quaint shops, crafts, restaurants and quality country hotels and guest houses and has often been voted the nation's best little town.
Owners of properties on the Garden Route enjoy a privileged temperate and evergreen climate. South African Airways fly into both George and Plettenberg Bay airports and most European connections are via Cape Town or Johannesburg.
